Mission Statement: Families, Inc. is a primarily home-based, non-profit organization, whose purpose is to improve family relationships and ensure positive, safe environments for children.  Families, Inc. offers therapy, education, and support to families and their children to strengthen and promote a healthy environment.
History: Families, Inc. is a non-profit agency, founded in July 1974 when the agency was funded by DHS through a grant from the Iowa Legislature.  The agency was founded to provide a service, which would prevent placement of children outside their own homes by strengthening parental roles through therapy, education, and supportive services.  Families, Inc. is the oldest continuing home-based agency in the United States, being the first in the State of Iowa and second in the nation to provide in-home family centered services.  Families, Inc. has several distinct programs, which provide home-based services to families.
